Does the oven door latch go through the opening on the heat sheild (part 4450362). The middle door part is a bit loose on my oven (I'm replacing the glass) and the heat shield sits off the door a bit such that the latch does not fit through.
Answer Hello Kevin,
This sounds like it is time to replace the door latch assembly 4451896. Over time, being exposed to the heat the unit produces, excessive play in the mechanical workings of the latch will increase and when it goes into complete failure, the door will lock and you will have a time getting it opened.
The heat from my wall oven has twice caused the laminate on the drawer below it to shrink. Is there a shield that can be placed between the oven bottom and the drawer top to prevent this?
Answer Gloria, The first thing you need to check is the installation especially the bottom of the cabinet opening " Oven support surface must be solid, level and flush with bottom of cabinet cutout. Floor must be able to support a single oven weight of 140 lbs (63.5 kg) or a double oven weight of 245 lbs." The heat shield you listed, is attached to the oven bottom and is concealed by the bottom trim panel [W10207684]
You may want to remove the strip and varify the shield is still present, and not damaged.
