Can I touch the heating element with my hands and fingers or will the element burn out because of the oils from my skin ?

Answer Hello Steve. Yes, you can touch the element when installing it into the unit. Just don't touch when the element is hot to prevent from getting burnt.

My Whirlpool Washer keeps giving a F-05 fail code. I replaced the ntc sensor and still have the problem. I removed the heating element and it looks perfect, maybe too perfect. Shouldn't it have scale or something? This is clean and doesn't show any signs of being a heavily used 6 year old machine. I checked the resistance and it is giving 14.5 ohms resistance across the terminals. Do you think the problem is this element?

Answer Hello Rich. Based on the information you provided, the heater 8182666 is testing good. It sounds like the wiring harness going from the heater to the CCU is bad, or the CCU is bad. You will need to check and see if the wiring harness is good on the unit. If so, replace the CCU 8182694. Hope this helps.

the heater gasket failed after the element was removed and then put back into place. It was definitely pushed in all the way. Does it need a replacement gasket?

Answer Sandy, No, you do not need a repalcement gasket. there is a seal built into the metal flange of the heater assembly, as you tightne the mounting bolt in the center the gasket will seal around the entire assembly, provided there's no nicks or damage to the heayter opening on the tub and the hetar is properly installed.
