My dryer is cutting off before the cycle is done. When I open the door it is very hot inside. I was told it is a safety feature to keep it from overheating. What would cause the dryer to overheat? What would I need to replace to correct this issue?

Latest Questions

I have replaced the thermostat about 3 times in the last 9 months. Does not appear to be any visual damage to the heating element. The dryer runs hot and can be hot to touch. Inside the dryer where the heat comes in can be hot at times when the dryer has not run. As this is consistently creating a fire hazard and I am not versed with knowledge of electric circuits. Any ideas or recommendations.

My electric dryer cycles for short periods of time: on-off: 40-70, 27-72, 30-80 all in seconds. My hi-limit thermo has only the top wire connected to it. There is no wire connected on the lower left side (other end of thermo). There is also a red wire connected to the heater element block (?) under the hi-limit thermo - on the right side. Can you tell me how to connect the missing wire or email me a wiring diagram?

Dryer will not run at all. There is power to the controller. Will the dryer still run (tumble) if the thermal fuse is blown, or does that only affect the heater element? Is there an overload on the motor itself? Planning to buy a thermal overload fuse but only if needed.
