I am having a problem with my Whirlpool top loading clothes washer. It functions normally but is not spinning the clothes as dry as it used to. I don't see standing water in the bottom of the tub but the clothes come out quite soggy. I can run it through the spin cycle again which usually dries them out enough for the drier to not over work its self. Another website suggested that there might be a blockage in the drain. I have removed the drain hose from the back and found that it runs freely, not blockage. I have opened up the machine and removed the hose from the pump to the back of the cabinet. Prior to removing it, it appears that the bend closer (not closest) to the cabinet might be a tad constricted. After removing it, It seems that the area of the hose where the bend is is a bit soft. I ran water through it and there is no obvious blockage but the bend in the hose is not as sharp. So; what do you think? Is the hose the problem or do I have something more serious? The washer was purchased 8/92.

Answer Tod, Your most likely to have a "slipping" clutch 285785. But first check and make sure there isn't any small articles stuck between the inner and outer tubs, and check the drive coupling 285753A for damaged or cracked drive tabs and a distorted cushion pad.

We have water leaking from somewhere during the draining operation and it appears to be coming from the right rear as you face the machine. At first, I thought that my stand pipe (in that area)was overflowing, but determined that is not the case. Any ideas? I replaced the drain pump in Feb., 2003 when the machine would not drain completely.

Answer Tom, I'm wanderring if you have a problem with the tub or tub cover, or loose , cracked tub to pump hose. I take for granted you've already checked the drain hose and drain hose connector panel on the back of the unit ? You'll need to remove the cabinet and check for a loose fitting tub cover clamp or cracked tub. Good Luck and Thanks.

Do you take the back off to work on this mach? If so how do you get it off. Can I replace the inside hoses from the bottom? Thanks

Answer Hello James. You do not need to remove the back of the machine to change the hose. You can lean the machine backwards and change the hose 3348552 from the bottom. Hope this helps.
