The supply line to the water dispenser has broken, but the ice line is ok. How do I replace the water supply line? Is it easier to just splice new line?
If the supply line to the dispenser broken inside the door, you will need to remove the dispenser cover and levers for the dispenser. Remove the door from the unit and pull the old line out and install the new water tube. If it is the tubing at the back of the unit then it comes from the water reservoir and if your reservoir is coils of tubing you could take some loose in order to extend the water line to reach the valve.
I think I need to replace the housing unit for my water filter. I've unattached the 2 water lines that go into the housing. Now, how do I get the actual plastic housing unit out from underneath my refrigerator? It gets stuck whichever way I try. Thanks.
Answer Jennifer, You should be able to do all the work from the front of the refrigerator. We'll send you some additional information but, once you remove the filter cap, filter and the lower kickplate/grille, you'll remove the two(2) screws holding the filter housing to the frame, turn the housing 90 dgrs. and slide the assembly out. Reverse the procedure and flush a gallon or so of water through the door dispenser.
I ordered a new filter housing from you, how do you disconnect the two water lines from the old hosing? I see gray round clips which looks like they should be removed so you can unplug the water lines? Will the new housing come with instructions on how to connect the water lines?
Answer John, You're on the right track, to remove the water tubes from the filter housing connectors, you need to press down /in on the gray colored rings surrounding the tubes, and pull the tube out. When you attach the tubes to the new component, press down / in on the gray ring, insert the tube as far in as possible, then release the ring, then tug out on the tube lightly to insure the tube is locked and sealed into the housing. Good Luck and Thanks
