cross reference to whirlpool ,need ice -control looks like your # AP3873956.Shaft is turning, will rotate with no ice in bin,put ice in and will not turn, coupler look ok and tight.
Check to make sure that the auger in the ice bin is turning and if it is turning but will not turn and the motor does not turn but sounds kind of jumpy or just hums then the motor would be the issue as opposed to the ice container.
On the ice-contnr I need to take mine apart to see what parts I need to order but I can't get the screw out of the bottom
It may be necessary to use an extraction tool to remove the screw and replace the screw if you are unable to remove the screw with a Phillips screw driver.
The ice maker does not dispense ice. It seems the auger is getting jammed when ice is in the bin. We've cleaned and dried the bin out several times. the auger seems to rotate fine when there is no ice in the bin but once ice is in there it gets stuck and doesn't push the ice through. Can you help?
Answer Hello Melissa,
You will want to check the coupler on the ice bin. The part that is on the door that connects to the ice bin. There are 2 1/4" screws holding shaft in place. Pull the screws and the assembly. Check to make sure that the coupling sleeve is not frozen in the down position. If this is the case the unit will not dispense. If it is in the down position, pull it off and dry thoroughly. Add a little lubricant to the shaft to keep it from freezing.
