Answer Hello, They have come out with a new kit for this repair. If your plastic tabs are broke inside the dispenser assembly, you will need this kit. It comes with instructions on how to do the repair. Here is the part number for you. 8201756

My ice door dispesor pin "HOLDER" is broken on the right side, the part is part of the plastic and not in the ice door kit. Any ideas on how to secure the holder pin. just like Beth in your Q & A section. but my frig modle # is ED5KVEXVQ . Please e-mail the answer to me thanks Robert

Answer Robert, You will need to get part number 8201756 which will have a bracket to hold the ice door in place.

My question concerns the support clip in figure 8 in your 8201756. Ice door kit fix kit. My instruction sheet picrures are not clear enough for me to understand what it is for, and do not see anything hanging down for it (fiigure 9). Can't figure out (figure 10). Maybe my model doesn't use this? Please advise and explain. Other wise I have made some dry runs on the installation, very tight but possible. I am getting ready to to install the new brackett.

Answer Neil, Where the water line is connected by the dispenser lever, take this screw out and the support clip will attach there. It will face with the rounded part up.

Answer JR, Check to see if the dispenser door is closing all the way. If the dispenser door is not closing all the way it is allowing moisture to get into the chute and will cause unit to give only crushed ice. If the dispenser door is closing all the way, you could shine a flashlight into the chute and see if you see light through the dispenser door. If you see light then you will want to replace the dispenser door 8201649.

My ice dispenser stopped working. I check a few items (door switch seemed okay, 115v AC going to motor harness, ...) and concluded that it was the auger motor. Unfortunately, the new motor didn't solve the problem. When the tab is pressed, the motor tries to run for a second or two, then stops. I re-attached the old motor and observed that it actually was doing something similar (originally I didn't think it had turned at all). I chatted with support, who suggested that it might be a solenoid and pointed me at the ice door kit. Before I order it, I'd like to perform any appropriate tests to confirm that this is the appropriate part. Any guidance on what to look for would be appreciated.

Answer Hello Tim, The ice door kit would have no bearing on the motor turning for the ice dispenser. If the switch is showing good but you are not getting proper voltage to the dispenser motor then the control W10184875 would be what is at fault.

Answer Hello Beth, Whirlpool has a kit made for repairing this issue. The part number is 8201756. It comes with instructions and I have to recommend that before the peel off tape cover is removed, you should practice going into the unit without touching anything several times. The reason is t6hat the sticky is super sticky. As soon as it touches anything, it has to be torn up to get it back off. This kit works great if positioned correctly so the door will seal. The instructions also say to remove the broken hinge points. I never remove the one that isn't broken since it can be used to properly position the hinge bracket so the door will seal properly.
