I'm having issues having my oven light on bake. I have removed the igniter (part 9782065). What does the manfucaturer the resistance should be? I am thinking this might be my problem. It is reading 246 ohms.
The resistance rating on the igniter should be around 1400 ohms. You can also do an amp draw with the oven turn to bake and check for 3.2 to 3.6 amps on the line for the igniter. If there is less than 3.2 amps then the igniter is bad and if there is 3.2 to 3.6 then the safety valve is bad.
when i turn on my gas cook top a strong odor comes out, almost smells like exhaust from the oven vent
Answer John, Have you recently used a petroleum based product inside the house ( oil based paint, varnish, pesticide, floor wax, etc.) ? If you have, this could be a normal by product of the chemicals left in the air. You may not smell it, but when the air is drawn over the flame or heated, the molecules expand and produce an odor. Carbon monoxide is odorless so it's not that. Are the burner flames blue, with little or no yellow or white tipping, this would indicate a properly adjusted fuel air mix and proper burn characteristics.
