My oven will only heat to 450°F. No other temperature and when using it smells like gas a little. Would this be the ignitor or is there a thermo coupler I'm not seeing?

Hi I have read the link few times but rule 1 says disconnect the power supply and rule 2 disconnect the wiring connected the any component you are testing. For my case, you suggested to test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. My questions are 1. I should NOT disconnect the power supply or the wires before I start BAKE function ?? 2. Choose the 200 setting on my digital meter? 3. See if voltage of the display shows 3.2-3.6 volts AC or lower than that to ? Thank you!!
