Does the part #ap4253981 include the seal underneath the hub? I don't see anything that I really need in this kit except the drive bell seal. The seal I pried out looked like some kind of a cartridge seal. It had a ceramic ring and a spring as part of an assembly or at least it was assembled at one point I destroyed it getting it out. There was some red RTV sealer smeared over the top of the drum. Is that part of the installation? Also my outer drum has some light rust scale on it. Would it be OK to wire brush that and spray some high quality paint on it? The agitator seems to shake quite a bit on the spin cycle but the bearings all seam to be in good shape is there anything else to check beside level that may cause this? Will replacing the seals help this problem any? I'm just trying to get this old machine to last a couple more years. Replacement machines are upwards of $600.

I have a leak that I think is the tub seal. I have the machine disassembled and the Hub and seal kit has parts that look different than mine, and does not include a top seal that goes under the agitator drive. I figured out the hub question from another question about the 8 holes and four holes. mine has 4 holes also. Do I just use the sealant for the top instead of the seal that I took off? Thanks

I purchased a tub seal kit with a new hub part AP4253981 for $113.76 and in the kit there is what I would call a speedy sleeve (stainless steel sleeve) that goes on the hub for the seal to ride on. The old hub also has one on it and seems to be pressed on maybe with some glue or lock tite. The new sleeve just falls on and off. This sleeve has to be a tight fit or it will fall off down the trans shaft. Do I glue it on and what type of glue is used. This sleeve is very loose on the hub, it has a lot of play. If you suggest glue it has to be something like J-B weld. with the size difference lock tite would not work.

Latest Questions

I have a water leak and wanted to use the Kit, Hub & Seal to replace the upper and lower seals as well as the tub seal. I have managed to disassemble the top, and gain access the Drive Bell, but can not get it off. I see there is a 'puller' but since the kit comes with a new Drive bell, is there a way to take off the old one without buying the puller?

Does this kit contain all parts to quiet a extremely loud spin out problem? If so, I am comfortable in making the repair. Thank you. Darren

Hi, I purchased the ap4253981 kit. I see the sealing washer on top of the nut. I saw in someone else's post that you say to cut the washer off with a chisel. I do not see a new sealing washer in the kit. The nut is frozen as well and I have it soaking. Several heavy blows with a hammer have not done anything but make it mad. My hub assembly is corroded pretty badly so just replacing the top Drive bell and seal are probably not an option. Any ideas? Thanks
