Do you take the bottom out of the freezer or the top out of the fresh food compartment to install the metal rod hooked to the freezer knob with a screw? That's what has broken on mine.

The controls are located in the ceiling of the fresh food compartment. There are either 2 or 4 screws holding the control box to the ceiling of the fresh food compartment. Once they are removed the control box assembly is fully accessible for service.
What are the instructions for installing knob control (freezer)?

Answer Hello L. Wilson. You will pull the old knob off the control unit. Then push the new knob 61006073 onto the control unit. There is a wide and a narrow slot on the sides of the knob, These will need to be aligned up to install properly. Hope this helps.
