Answer Mike, Correct, you have to remove the end cap from the fridge wall, the end cap has three screws holding it to the wall, Once you disconnect the shifter lever from the air control slide, you can unsnap the lever from the end cap and lift / slide it out of the opening and install it into the new end cap. I have to replace broken Endcap AP4456441 but Knob AP4078991 is on the way. How to take out Knob AP4078991 and not brake it? Thanks

Answer Hello Mike. The temp knob 67003791 has a locking tab holding it in place. You will need to release this clip and then you can remove the knob in the unit.
