I replaced the membrane switch but the light stayed on and now the oven doesnt get hot. Could it be the latch? It also wont self clean, says the door is open. please help

Answer Lorraine, You will want to make sure that the door is closing all the way. Check to make sure that the connection for the membrane switch is a firm connection. You will also want to check when you put the unit into bake or broil that you are getting 240 vac across the L1 to Bake or L1 to broil when in broil. If you are then your control board would be the issue and need to be replaced.

Hey, I put my oven on self clean mode and noticed a rack I went to open the door and I was able to open my oven door. Now the latch is engaged and the door wont completely close. I tried to reset the self clean but it tells me to close the door. What can I do?

Answer Caryn, You may want to try to push in on the door light switch and see if you can get the door latch to open. If not then you will want to have someone help you by holding the door switch and pulling out a little on the latch and try to reset. If this does not work then you may need a new motor latch motor.

Answer Hello Penny, As per the manufacturer, this is the correct substitution. The solenoid on the old one has been replaced with a motor to prevent premature failure since the solenoid cannot withstand the temperatures that the motor can. The wires to the switches can be just carried over and since the switches are not polarized, the wires on them can be crossed with no negative results. The motor and the solenoid are polarized, so when the wires are transferred from the solenoid to the motor, pay strict attention to positive (+) and negative (-). This circuit is 18Vdc so if not wired in the correct polarity, it will not work.

We had a recent power outage. When the power came back on, the oven light will not turn off. If I try to start a cleaning cycle, it will not start the cycle and the panel says "close door". So it seems to "think" the door isn't closed even when it is. This makes me think I need to replace the door latch. How do I access it? Also- when I turn the oven on, I hear the fan going and the heating element gets a little warm, but it doesn't get past the "preheating" stage. I assume it's not getting hot because it thinks the door's open, or is this a different problem? The cooktop works fine. Is there a chance that the house circuit breaker is bad and not sending enough current,or is that an "all or nothing" thing? Could the latch have gone bad due to the power going out and returning, or is it a coincidence?

Answer Hello Andy, I would check the door switch W10195934 first to make sure that it has not failed. Also check your control board W10181438 to ensure that you are getting proper voltage to elements. You may be loosing one side of your line feed if you are only getting partial warming. Your elements should get 240vac to fully energize.
