I have a Whirlpool washer, and whan you start it up it just sets there and then a code f-28 comes up. The service man thinks it the door lock. He thinks this because the door lock button will not re-open the door. Help!
Answer Hello Bobby,
The door lock could be at fault but I seem to remember an F28 as a communication error. This will vary by model number though and since there was no model number listed in your post, we cannot accurately diagnose the issue. If we could please ask you to check the model number on the units' I.D. tag and post it, we will be able to assist in the diagnosis and even provide the correct part numbers and, if necessary, instructions on accessing and replacing the parts. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. If you cannot open the door to check this you can unplug the unit from the wall outlet, remove the main top cover and reach inside to the door lock assembly and there is normally a release on the bottom of it that, when pulled toward the floor, will allow the door to be pulled open.
easy way to change door latch maytag washer
Answer Steve, If you're sure about the need for the latch assembly, the easiest way to change it is, open the loading door, roll the lip of the seal back and remove the retaining wire and spring(mark the location of the spring) remove the seal from the 12 o'clock position to the 5 o'clock position. Remove the screw(s) in the front panel that attch the latch to the inside of the panel. and carefully slide the latch out of the gap between the front panel and the seal. Reverse the procedure, and test the washer operation.
Easy way to change door latch? Does door have be removed?
Answer Hello Steve. No, you do not have to remove the door. You will need to remove one side of the door boot to access and replace the latch. Remove the boot on one side and remove the screws securing the latch. The pull out the latch enough to remove the wires from the latch. Now install the new latch W10375379 into the unit.
