Answer Hello. Based on the information you provided, the lid switch 3949247 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. It sounds like it is broke and the reason, it is not contacting.

Answer Hello David. You will need to drill out the old screws if you can not remove them and order 4 new screws W10119828. You can use the old hinges on the new lid.

Answer Paula, Do you have all the parts ? or are you replacing the original lid ? You will need to open the lid and push the wash basket back, and to one side in the opening as far as possible, you need to be really careful, reach under the top and between the tub and remove the rubber bumpers off the end of the metal hinge assembly. Remove the two screws from the side of the lid, they hold the hinge to the lid, You will need to manipulate (turn and twist) the hinge and extract it from the plastic bearing and opening in the waser top and lid. Repaet the procedure on the opposite hinge. Reverse the procedure to install the new lid,Transfer the lid strike and bumpers from the old lid, and check the washer for operation.
