My dryer WED6400SW1 runs for a few seconds and then the drum and motor stop. I also smell something burning. I think is the MOTOR
I attempted to run a diagnostic test but I don't understand what stand-by mode is. but I'm not a repair man so can you please give me you professional opinion.
Based on the description of the problem it sounds like the motor would be the issue. When the unit starts it will start on the start winding and once it gets going will switch to the run winding. It sounds like the unit is not changing to the run winding and this would be caused by a bad motor.
Within the motor of my Cabrio Gas Dryer, a small spring (3/4") has come off for some reason. It appears to be one of two small springs within the motor. Can you help me with this?
Answer Hello Beth,
This sounds like one of the centrifugal switch springs has come out. The only way I know of that this can happen is if the clip on one end of the spring has broken off. If this is the case, the only way to correct it is to replace the motor assembly W10463866.
