Two of my burners (the large ring and cap type) have an igniter that comes on randomly while the flame is lit. Then yesterday, one of the smaller burners started sparking constantly, even when the burner was turned off. I looked at the video about replacing the ignition module, and the demonstration model used one module that served all five burners. When I take the front control panel off, I see 4 separate modules that look like part # AP409133. Does each burner have its own module? Why do I only see 4 on a six-burner stove? And, if they're separate modules, and this is my problem, why would 3 of them go out withing a one-month period?
Thanking you in advance for you help with this,
Answer Bob in Bend,
With the issue that you are referring to, the unit has 2 types of ignition devices. The spark module which you saw and the simmer control which is used for the 2 XLO burners. If these burners are clicking when the flame is on then the simmer control or the igniter is loosing ground and would need to re-establish ground. This normally happens where the burner base is.
The Front RHS burner( most used) Ignitor, chronically, continues to spark after gas igniting . Is this a problem with the ignitor module?
How does the unit sense the gas is alight, or flamed out?
With the unit continuing to spark after the burner has lit the issue would be caused by a faulty reignition module. The way that the unit senses the flame on or off is that the gas ionizes the air between the igniter and cap. When this happens it blocks the igniter from being able to spark by opening the circuit for the igniter. When the flame goes out but should not be then it allows the igniter circuit to close and allow spark.
All of the burner's ignition are not working after boiled water spilled. Can you help?
Answer Hi Peter. You may need the ignition module part # is 73001323. Try to clean all individual burner caps with a small wire brush where the spark path to ground will be clean. It may be filled with boil over and need every burner to be cleaned at the ports with a small pick tool or a safety pin. The ignitors are part # 73001551. Thank you.
