Washer runs but stops quite often. I believe that the thermal fuse on the motor is bad. Are these available and what is the fuse rating.
Answer Hello Joe,
If the thermal fuse is bad the motor will not run at all. While it could be thermally stressed, it is more likely that there is an excessive drag on the motor causing it to overheat and trip the thermal overload. This is common on these models when the outer tub seal begins to leak and the detergent water rinses the grease from the spin bearing (part numbers are series dependent). Raise the main top and remove the front panel of the units' cabinet. Use a flashlight to examine the bottom of the outer tub. You will see water trails from the detergent water coming from the center bottom of the outer tub if this is the case. A bad drain pump 35-6465 can also cause the issue. The manufacturer has made the motor thermal fuse only available as part of the motor assembly.
