the unit lost power and shorted out phas board and plate ctrl both things replaced and still no power . brushes are over 1/2 long,and i have power to brushes could it still be brushes

Answer Danny, The motor brushes need to be at least 5/16" in length, and oriented properly in the holder. At this point, based on your post information, you need to look at the armature W10417244 since the control board and plate were damaged and shorted, they could have damaged the windings in the armature as well.

I sent in a question a few days ago and you requested the entire model #. The above is the only model number on the Stainless band that goes around the mixer. I'm looking for new brushes for the motor. I've taken the entire mixer apart in the past few days to clean it and install a new power cord and there is no other number on the mixer. The name plate says the manufacturer is The Hobart Mfg. co. in Troy Ohio. My wifes newer mixer says KitchenAid Division, but the one I'm trying to get brushes for was my mother-in-laws and I know it's at least 20 yrs old. You may have to go back to the Hobart model numbers as I think this was made by them before KitchenAid purchased them. The brushes currently in the machine are worn down to the spring so they are not long for this world.

I was using my mixer, shut it off to get my dry ingredients and then went to turn it on and it did not work. I tried differnet outlets and moved the cord around to see if there was a short but nothing worked. Do you think if we replaced the motor brushes it would work or what other advice would you suggest? Answer Hello Shirley. You will need to test and see if there is power coming to the motor. If not, you may have a bad phase control W10325124. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
