Hello my whirlpool refrigerator ice dispenser quit working. I removed the ice bucket and pressed the light switch, and lever on door, to observe the ice dispenser motor. The motor seems to work fine, but the coupling spins loosely. I can turn it easily with my finger. Is this the problem? Do I need to replace the coupling?

My refrigerator just started making a very loud noise. I turned the refrig off -- not sure what is the cause. Any ideas?

Latest Questions

My freezer is not dispensing ice. I can see the motor coupling turning when I take out the ice bin and press the ice dispenser. But the solenoid does not pull up to open the ice dispenser on the ice bin. Also if I put my finger on the motor coupling it wont move. It seems that there is very little power to turn the ice tray. Do I need to change the motor and the solenoid?

I'm trying to remove the coupler as well. the coupler has left handed threads, right? meaning I would need to pull and turn the coupler clockwise to loosen it?

The thread on the shaft and on the coupling are stripped. I cut the coupling off. Is the shaft replacible, or how do I get a new coupling to work?
