There appears to be two different replacement motors. I suspect a change during the production years. Perhaps both Model # and Serial # would help to determine the correct replacement motor (AP4043081 or AP5272723). Model # MDE5500AYW Serial # 62426740CE.

Hi, I have a Maytag DC Model # MCG8000AWQ . I believe it is a series 14 since this number is under the model number. Serial# 14254956GL. I am in need of the motor pulley, the picture looks different than my original part. The new part shown has a hex on each side. Mine has a bell on the motor side approximately 1-1/4" in diameter with a hex on the outside (away from the motor - towards the rear of the machine). Will the new part shown work or is this the wrong one? Some specific information: The motor shaft on the pulley side is left handed thread. How can we be sure that the pulley we order has a left handed thread? Do you need any more information? Thanks.

Dryer hummed but no start. Rotated drum then it worked but then a squealing noise. Replaced all three rollers and belt. Worked for a day but now seems a little slow and has a smell to it. I assume I am losing the motor but just wanted an opinion, Thanks

The pulley on the drive motor broke. Can I replace the pulley or does the motor have to be changed? The motor still operates properly.

My dryer is louder than normal. It will run for a while but will shut off before the cycle is over. As soon as it shuts off, I can not restart it. If I wait for a few minutes, I can restart it and it will run for the rest of the cycle (as of now). I checked the blower. The wheel turns the drum smoothly and easily and nothing is clogged in it. Is the motor going bad? (I don't know if this will help or not, but I just replaced the belt and both rear drum rollers last month because it was making a squealing noise when it started. That noise went away after I put the new parts in.)
