I need to know, what test must I perform, to confirm the motor is defective. I would like to know how to confirm the heat sensors are working properly. Thank you
Answer Roger, to test the motor, you will need to label and remove the wires from the motor switch. On the switch if you place you meter leads on the red terminal and the gray terminal, you should have a reading of 1.5 to 2.25 ohms resistance If you place the meter probes across the gray and yellow terminals you should have a reading of 2 to 3 ohms resistance. If you have a 120 VAC test cord, you can attach the test terminals to the gray and red terminals ,when you plug the cord into an outlet the motor should start and run. To test the heat sensor (thermostat) remove the wires and place the meter leads across the terminals on the thermostat. There should be a "closed" circuit indicated on your meter at room temperature on all the thermostats and fuses in the heater circuit. If you heat them with a match or lighter, you should hear the circuit click and open then reset once it cools down again.
