The fan that pushes the air from the freezer bottom to the top and the fridge is not working. Freezer feels cold in the bottom but the top area is warm. Also the fridge area feels warm in the top and a little cold in the bottom. Is there a sensor that activates the fan or is just that the fan it's bad?

First let me say I'm a huge fan of this site and would recommend it to anyone. I had problems with my dryer and stove in the past and watching your "how to" videos and buying the parts through this site saved me a lot of money not having to call a repair man. That said I have yet another problem. My refrigerator has side by side doors. The freezer works just fine. You can feel the cold air moving around. The fridge on the other hand isn't. After reading most comments on your site I'm assuming it's the motor to the evaporator fan (W10128551) but the fan starts and stops after a few seconds. Also makes a loud noise when it's trying to start. Since the fan is trying to start and gets cut off I'm not sure if that's the problem. Any feedback is appreciated. Customer for life, Nick

Latest Questions

My evaporator fan quit working, no frost build-up on coils, compressor works normally and bottom of freezer and fresh food side are quite cold - but upper portions warm. The fan bearings are fine, the motor 'looks' and smells fine - no evidence of arcing or burning. Closed freezer door switch and waited several minutes - compressor continued to run but the fan never came on. My Question - is the fan motor bad? Or is there something controlling the fan motor that has gone bad? Can I remove the fan motor and power it with 110v and see if it comes on? Thanks, Chris

The motor on the fridge sounded as if it was cutting in and out for the past year. Now the refrigerator side is freezing all the food even though I turned it off and have the freezer set on 2. I'm just guessing but I think the motor-evap is the problem. Just wanted to get a second opinion before ordering.

The freezer is working fine, but the coils in the back are freezing up and not allowing air flow up to the refrigerator. I have manually defrosted this and all works well for a few days. This is supposed to be a frost free unit. What needs to be done to eliminate this problem?
