Water started leaking in the ice tubb and stopped making Ice. We turned the water off. This has been about 4 years ago. I cant remember if the Ice and water still made a noise when we pushed the lever. The refriderator and freezer still works good so I found this web site and thought I would give it a try. Do you think I need the motor or some other Part.

Answer Peggy, You most likely needed the water inlet/fill valve 4318046 in the beginning. If your sure you turned off the icemaker(raised the bail arm) and made sure it remained in the up/"off" position, You may not need the ice maker assembly 4317943.

I admit I am an idiot. The earlier test I thought were checking voltage were incorrect. I am not getting 120 vac to the pins leading to the motor, and supplying 120 to the motor terminals will activate it. I know the next step may be a call to a qualified repairman, but dang it seems to be so simple. Something's open somewhere and I would like to think I have the skills to find out where. Any suggestions? You folks are really helpful, know anybody who wants to buy a new (never used) replacement motor? Thanks in advance.

Answer Hello donnyrockaholic. Inside the dispenser assembly there is a micro-switch 2162361 that sends the power when you press the lever. You will need to test and see if this micro-switch is bad and needs to be replaced in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Hi there. Thanks so much. I have verified that he is 120vac to the connector, Thank you so much for your prompt reply. we appear to have 120 vac to the connector terminals. I also supplied 120vac to the motor connectors to no avail. Looks like I'll be ordering a motor shortly. I still haven't figured how to decouple the motor coupling device from the motor to clear the bracket. Is there a secret I'm missing or am I just not using enough force? Thanks once again

Answer Hello donnyrockaholic. Yes, it sounds like the motor 2188241 needs to be replaced. To remove the coupling from the motor, you need to use a large hammer and use quick light blows to the top side of the coupling W10169511 to break it free and remove from the motor shaft.

The ice maker stopped dispensing ice thru the door. when the dispenser handle is pushed nothing happens only a slight sound as the door closes. Same results with the door open, switch pushed and ice bin removed. The motor coupling does not turn in either scenario. I'm thinking the ice dispenser motor has probably gone bad? Thanks for your help.

Answer Hello donnyrockaholic. Test for power coming to the motor 2188241 with the door light switch closed on the unit. If there is power there, and the motor does not turn, you will need to replace the motor in the unit.

Where is the motor located?

Answer Hello. The motor is located inside the freezer section, behind the ice bucket assembly. You will need to remove the cover it is attached to, to access the dispenser motor. Hope this helps.
