Recently, our washer has gotten extremely loud while spinning to drain water from the tub. The motor has a slight growling noise even when it is running through a wash cycle. I was able to hear it even better using a wooden dowl as like a stethiscope. Could the loud noise we hear as the water is draining be that the motor is going bad? Or should I be looking somewhere else for the problem?

Appears to be a phase problem with the motor/motor control board - growling and failure to operate. No visible damage to motor control board PN 6 2710600 and resistance on motor windings checks at ~ 2 ohms. Don't want to replace with redesigned parts if I don't have to, as the unit is in a closet and it is very hard to get access to the back. Is it at all likely that the problem is isolated in the motor control board and that replacing it alone will solve the problem? Any way to diagnose a motor problem?

Our Maytag Neptune washing machine stopped working after the first rinse/spin cycle. We have replaced the wax motor, balancer, timer, circuit board and on/off switch. We replaced the new board last night, and I was able to do 1.5 loads when the same problem showed up again. :( Do you know what else we could do to fix it?? Thank you.
