Answer Hello Bernard. You will need to check and see if the lid switch is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Answer Monty, The noise is most likely the Drive Block 389140 "slipping" on the Spin tube tabs 64208. You may or may not need the spin tube, depending on whether the tabs are or are not damaged. The video attached to 389140 will be quite helpful.
