The door handle for my Maytag electric range/oven snapped off. This door handle looks very much the same. Will it work for my Black Maytag Range?
Cindi A for Model Number Maytag - MERH752BAB
Answer Cindi, You should order the correct part for your range 74011777, that way you can be sure it will fit. We have no access to engineering diagrams and cannot varify, if the 74011767 will properly fit or operate on your range correctly. Thanks and Good Luck
I bought this handle for my maytag mer5765qab, it appears to be the correct handle. The handle is mounted with two screws but they are on the inside of the door and it appears that the door will need to be disassembled to get to the screws. How do I change this handle?
Lisa for Model Number maytag mer5765qab
Answer Hello Lisa. To change the handle in an oven door, you will need to determine how to remove the door on the model number you are working on. If you open the door to the first stopping point, some oven doors will lift off the unit in this position. On other models, you will see clips on the back of the hinge toward the opening where the hinge enters the range. If yours is like this, you will open the door all the way open, then pull the clips down until they stop and lock in place. Then close the door to the stopping point and lift the door off the range. If you door does not lift off, and it does not have the clips, then you will open the door all the way open. You will see a hole in the hinge at the bottom of the door. You will insert a pin or nail into that hole and close the door to the stopping point. Then you can lift the door off the unit. Once the door is removed, you will lay it on a soft surface and disassemble the door. Pay attention and make notes if needed for reassembly of the oven door. Once you have replaced the handle 74011767, you will reinstall the oven door back onto the range in reverse order of the way you removed it. Hope this helps.
The door handle screw broke off. I'm trying to remove the back to get to the inside. I've taken off all the screws all around and still can't separate the back. Are there instructions? Does it slide off somehow? Or do I just pry it?
Thank you so much

Kay for Model Number MER6555 or Gemini
Answer Hello Kay. Once all the screws securing the inner doo panel to the outer panel are removed, the door should separate without prying it. Then you can access and replace the handle 74011767. You will need to check and see what the door is binding on and make sure all the screws are removed, even on the bottom of the door. Hope this helps.
