I need a touchpad that goes on the left side door. Does this part come with any instructions on how to replace it?
Answer Hello Lou,
The part number for the display/touchpad is (AP4500129). To replace it, remove the drip tray, remove the two screws, and hold the door shut. With the other hand, grasp the bottom of the outer trim and yank out and slightly down. This will un-snap the display from the door. Now just lift up to unhook it from the trim. The unit should be disconnected from the power supply to prevent an electrical shock since 120Vac is behind this panel. The old touchpad will have to be peeled from the cover and the new one has peel off and stick installation. Be sure to remove all adhesive from the old part with rubbing alcohol before installing the new part and be careful to get it on straight since it will damage the new part to peel it back off once stuck on.
I am trying to replace the overlay touchpad on my frig. Once I remove the facade and unplug the ribbon cable, I can remove the control panel. But there is a plastic cover over the touchpad. Anyone know how to remove that piece?
Answer Randy, Once you remove the facade, and disconnect the ribbon from the control board, you set the facade aside and perform the repairs you need to make. There isn't usually a reason to remove the keypad overlay from the facade, unless it's damaged. Just be careful when you're dismantling the facade, and make sure you remove power to the refrigerator before you start.
