We plugged this in a few days and it was running fine. Yesterday my wife noticed the freeze box was working but the fridge wasn't getting that cold. This morning everything was off, like it was getting no power but than it comes back on and is on right now. Not sure what part we need for this.
For a unit to shut of and come back on about 30 minutes later would be the unit going through the defrost cycle. With the refrigerator section not cooling properly you will want to make sure that the evaporator coils behind the freezer wall are not impacted with ice which would be caused by a defrost failure. At this point you will want to check continuity of the defrost heater and defrost bimetal. If either do not have continuity then the part that has no continuity would need to be replaced. If both check ok and it coils are impacted with ice then replace the defrost control.
I moved this unit from one home to this one. I plugged it in and it ran for about 10 minutes, then it stopped. Nothing comes on now not even the light. I did all the trouble shooting, checked cord, etc. The unit was fine until move. Did not lay it down. Any suggestions. Is there a reset button?
Answer Hello J.L.,
Two things I would go directly to if I were able to troubleshoot are the thermostat 2204605 and the defrost timer 482493. You should use the wiring diagram on the unit to follow the wiring out to the issue. If power is good to the the components mentioned, you should at that time start looking to a lost neutral connection. You should also check the outlet you are connecting it to. There is no reset button but there could be a connector unplugged.
what if there is no "clicking" from the compressor. also my compressor is cool to the touch thats after watcjing for abt 30 min.
Answer James, First you need to check and make sure you have 120 VAC on the red wire on the overload relay to chassis ground on the compressor, If we have the voltage, you'll need to test the relay overload and compressor. If not we'll need to test the defrost timer and cold control. Here's some meter usage information should you need it[http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html]. Good Luck and Thanks
