I just purchased this side by side used, I do believe that it has never ran as it still has the factory stickers and no water stains in the defrost pan but it is missing everything on the compressor. The only thing that is there is a green w/yellow stripe wire guessing this is the ground to the flat terminal on the compressor, and a harness with one red and one white wire. Could you please let me know the parts that I will need. I have already verified that the compressor works.

Answer Joe, You will need the compressor starting device kit 8201786. If the white and red wire are connected to a gang plug then you will also need a capacitor 2169373.

Answer Jody, You will want to pull the unit out and check to make sure that the compressor is running. If the compressor is not running you will want to pull the relay off the compressor and shake it next to your ear. If it sounds like a rattle then the relay is bad and would need to be replaced.

My compressor is hot, it clicks on and off and the fans and lights appear to be working but the freezer and fridge are not cooling. I can hear the relay click on and then stay on for 5-6 seconds then click off. I have not tested the comoressor's ohms yet but will do that next. When I pulled the relay off there is no rattle. Is it likely the compressor or is thereaway to test the relay?

I ordered and very quickly received a replacement for the compressor start device for the Embraco EGY90HLP compressor (part 8201786). The overload protector is a match and the instruction are very clear. However, the prior overload protector had some sort of black capacitor (???) the fits over the protector and goes into two slots at the left side. The instructions make no mention to reinstall this. Is it a needed piece? Thanks

My refrigerator appears to create a small flame around the electronics leading into the compressor when the compressor turns on. Smoke and the smell of burning plastic is emitted. However the compressor seems to turn on. What is the best way to know which part(s) need to be replaced?

Answer Hello Peter, The overload relay is what you would want to replace on the refrigerator. The relay should not omit an electrical odor and will eventually fail.
