Have Jen-Air six gas burner downdraft cooktop. It is about 11 years old. It seems to have two burners in a sealed container. Two burners (one each) in two different sealed containers are not working due to the absence of sparks to ignite gas. When I turn a knob all the way, all the burners have sparks except the two burners.
What should I replace?
Online Help desk person shared to replace a spark module. But, I see two modules in the diagram.
My question was why the two burners do not have sparks when four others have. Are there cables from the spark module to the igniters? Can igniters be malfunctioning?
Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
You will want to check the position of the igniters on the burners first. If the igniters have shifted from when the unit may have been cleaned then the spark for the burner may not occur. If this is not the case then you will want to check the igniter to make sure that there is not an issue with the igniter insulation being cracked. If the insulation is cracked it will cause the spark where the crack is and not allow the burner to ignite. You will also want to check the continuity of the wire to make sure that the wire is good. If the wire is good and the igniter is good, then check the spark switches for continuity when in the lite position. If this checks ok then the spark module would be the issue.
We have a Kenmore dishwasher that is 3 years old. For the last year the normal wash light has been flashing and cycles would not run. After going online, I was able to reset the error code by pressing "heated dry, normal wash, heated dry, normal wash" which would send the dishwasher into a diagnostic mode and everything would be fine for a week or two and then we'd have to input the code again. Now that code does not work. I've tried shutting off the power for 10-20 minutes but that didnt help. Only the normal wash light is flashing. The cancel light will flash if pressed but will stop if you open then close the door. Could this be a problem with the panel or circut board or possibly the door latch? I've also read that it could be a bad heating element. By the time I buy all 4 of these parts, I could almost purchase another dishwasher :(
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was unable to find a tech sheet behind the kick panel.
Thanks in advance!!
Answer Hello Stay@HomeMom. You have 2 issues now. First, you need to replace the control panel on the unit for the flashing lights. As for the clean light flashing, there is a heating error. You need to test the heater and see if it is good. If so, test the thermostat. If it is good, replace the control board as well. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
