Our 10 1/2 yr old Whirlpool direct-drive washer has been basically problem free until this year. Now it has an intermittent occurance unless we cut its power off when I finish washing for the day.The machine "beeps" and displays the # 44 in the estimated time window. This will continue to occur until I press "stop" at which time it will cut off the process only to repeat itself in a few minutes and continue until the power cord is unplugged. I could not reach the power plug when I needed to, so yesterday my husband installed a power strip on the wall behind & above the panel console. Now all I have to do is flip the power strip switch when needed. Works great! All 10 cycles and all options work correctly & all LEDs light up. BUT.. original problem comes back. Can you help please?

The washer remains on wool cycle and does not allow to select another wash cycle. Sometime, by continuing to press different places on the touchpad I can get the normal wash cycle to work. Unplugging the unit does not help. At the end of the wash cycle the wool cycle will remain lit and at times will go out and when it senses a movement on the machine or you open the top, the wool cycle will lite up. What needs to be replaced?

We've been waiting for the AP3881391 console to die before replacing it (see prev contact). Last night the machine unexpectedly beeped and showed 53 in time window Following lights also came on Hvy Duty Extra heavy Norm/cold Softner Can't get the machine to work no matter what sequence the control pads are pressed. Have to unplug it to get the lights to go off. I guess it's finally time to replace the console but is there anyting else you think I should replace while I'm at it? Thanks

My washing machine is doing the EXACT same thing as George... Display says 8 and the extend spin and softer buttons are lit. If I keep playing with it enough, it will clear and let me get a load of laundry done. I did your signal-soak cycle test, it first started up a heavy duty cycle for me. Then I did it again and all the LED lights on the panel lit up. Do you think it's the Console part or the motherboard? I'm now also receiving one error code intermittenly, it's L5 or Ls? this is new as of today...the pump was replaced on it this morning. Up until today, no error codes had been displayed!
