Microwave is almost in new condition. But from time to time it locks up. When it does the keys on the control panel do nothing. If I un plug it and repower it clears the problem. Is this a problem with the control panel or is this a bigger problem.

Answer Hello Rick, This would be a problem with the keypad on the control panel. You will want to check to make sure that you have a good connection of the ribbon cable to the control board. If the connection is good then you would want to replace the control panel 8205816.

Hi, I am still looking for the correct part to fix my microwave. Thanks for your prompt response earlier. I verified the error on my control panel to be F-1. So, I am not sure why you are not seeing that code in the wiring diagram. My microwave is broke with an error f-1 shown in the control panel. Will replacing that with this part (ap3859379) solve the problem? Or should I go with ap4326022 ? Appreciate your help. Thanks.

Answer Hi Venky. Are you sure it is a F-1 code? We cannot verify per wiring diagram of the code. They do show the F-2 code a keypad issue. Part # 8205816. The F-1 code in ovens do consist of a console/keypad failure. Thank You.

The explaination from the appliance repair tech is that the latch snapped at the control panel but we clearly heard the spring pop. Therefore, my question is could this be a legitimate repair issue or not. Thanks!

Our Kitchenaid Microwave is 6 years old. The push button to open the door is not working, you could hear a spring pop and we were unable to open door. The touchpad was working. We ordered the latch, spring and screw and took to a small appliance repair shop. They are now saying that the entire control panel needs to be replaced. We are trying to determine if this would be expected and what labor it would require. They are charging $125 for part and $100 for labor?
