I have a model KHMS155LSS-4 KitchenAide micro wave. We are having the F2 error message. Based on above, I ordered the Panel/Control part # W10306627 to try to remedy it. On receipt, I find the outer case, the touch screen and a ribbon connection. Is this right?
Answer Harry, Yes, you're correct on all counts, The "F2" error code F2 Keyboard failure "Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power. Replace touch panel. If problem persists, replace electronic control. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power". The replacement part W10306627 consists of the pre assembled control panel, keypad and keypad ribbon. You will need to remove the panel, label and disconnect the wiring and wiring connectors, dismount the PCB(control board) install it in the new panel assembly and reverse the procedure to install the parts. then test the microwave for operation.
Can you tell me how to remove this part and install the new control panel?
Answer Hello Greg,
Unplug the unit and remove the two screws along the top of the unit and open the door. Slide the air grille to the left and it will come off. Some of these have black screws in the grille that thread in from the front of the unit. This kind will come right off when the screws are removed. Now there is a single screw in the center above the control panel. Remove this screw and slide the control panel up and off. Now the control board is attached only by the wires. You should take a few pictures of the how wiring is connected to the control before removing anything. Take the pictures from a couple of different angles so you can really tell what goes where.
