I have a ARB2117AC refrigerator with bottom mount freezer. The freezer is running at about 5 below zero. Fan is working in freezer. I have little to no air flow coming into the refrigerator section and it is at 55 above zero. I took the damper off in the refrigerator and that made no difference. So I am not sure why there is no air flow into the refrigerator.
Answer Hello Tom,
The first thing you should check is the fan motor. Cold air is heavier than warm air, so if the fan isn't running properly the cold air cannot be circulated to the top of the unit. This is the best I could do as far as a troubleshooting chart. If you would like some illustrated troubleshooting charts for your model, you can provide an e-mail address and we will send these out to you.
Symptom Possible Causes Corrective Action
No power to unit Check for power at outlet. Check fuse box/circuit breaker for blown fuse or tripped breaker. Replace or reset.
Faulty power cord Check with test light at unit; if no circuit and current is indicated at outlet, replace or repair.
Low voltage Check input voltage for proper voltage. Take appropriate action to correct voltage supply problem.
Faulty motor or freezer temperature control Check all connections are tight and secure.
Jumper across terminals of control. If unit runs, replace control.
Faulty timer Check with test light. Replace if necessary.
Faulty relay Check relay. Replace if necessary.
Faulty compressor Check compressor motor windings for opens/shorts. Perform compressor direct wiring test. Replace if necessary.
Unit does not run Faulty overload Check overload for continuity.
NOTE: Ensure compressor/overload are below trip temperature before testing. Replace if necessary.
