How long is this replacement power cord?

Hi I have a Whirlpool top load washer and it does not do anything. After a little inspection I noticed that one terminal on the white 3 pin Molex plug of the main power cord is burned. This is the side of the power cord that is underneath the control panel. I used a jumper wire to see if the washer would work and it does work fine. Only about 1/4" of the power wire is melted. The plug on the washer side is a little burnt as well. Is it safe to just re-pin the wires and install new Molex plugs?? I use the same type of Molex plugs at my job and have the proper tools to crimp on new pins. Did the connector burn because of a poor connection between the pins? Your help is greatly appreciated. Mike

During the agitator cycle, nothing moves. It sits there quietly, then once the timer changes, then it will spin and drain. what controls that process? I have replaced the coupler, (that was broken) but it does not spin at all unless it is draining. The dogs are also broken and I can replace them once I get help figuring this out. Would that be the motor?
