The plastic part that attaches to the motor between the motor and the pulley burned out. This is a brand new motor I purchased in Feb, 2011. Is this common and is the motor under warranty? It also burned up the belt. How do you replace the pulley?
Answer Hello William! The motor pulley W10299847 will include the clear plastic part. If you purchased the motor 279827, if ordered with us will have a one year parts warranty for replacement if the item becomes defective. Your belt part number is 341241. You can get installation instructions from our free repair forum at http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/ . Thanks!

Our dryer starter squeaking a couple weeks ago so we bought a the rear felt strip that goes on the drum because it looked worn out, and paint on the metal rear wall of dryer looks like it had started to rub off too. Installed but dryer still squeaks, also found plastic ring, looks like it is melted, that used to go around shaft of drive motor, is this part important and what does it do, will it help in getting rid of squeak and if not, any suggestions of where squeak may be coming from and how to get rid of it. Thanks in advance.
Answer Ben, There's not a lot to do about the worn surface of the bulkhead, you do want to check and make sure its not a deposit of softener or debris from the clothes and tumbling action. The "plastic ring" covering the motor shaft isn't essential to the operation, but it is a guard to keep the belt from wrapping or damaging the motor. Now the squeak and the damaged guard would be due to a worn idler pulley 691366 and or belt 691366 both components should be replaced. You should also remove and clean and lubricate the rear drum rollers and shafts 349241T with a dry rag and lube the rollers with a couple of drops of turbine oil TJ93240.
I need to replace the motor pulley plastic guide (W10299847). How do I get the motor pulley off? Clockwise or counterclockwise? Any other tips I need to know? I am replacing the belt as well.
Answer Hello Debbie.
Use another adjustable wrench in front of the front motor mount shaft area. There is a notch on the shaft for the wrench. Let the wrench hold itself on the inside of the cabinet as you... more loosen the shaft pulley in a clockwise manner. Then the pulley guide can be inserted on the shaft and pushed towards the motor to lock in place. Use a dab of loctite part # F8283401 on the shaft threads to keep the pulley on. Thank You.
