What's the supply voltage to the grid cutter?

The supply voltage to the cutter grid is 24 vdc.
Is there a simple means to check to see if the pump works? Is it a 12V AC or DC motor? If DC, can I hook it to a 12V car battery? If DC, does polarity matter, and which lead is positive on the pump?

Answer Bert, The recirrculation motor is a 12 VAC motor as well as the reservoir drain pump motor. Neither motor is polarity sensitive, and running them with a basic test cord should allow you to determine if the motor is operable or not. Thanks and Good Luck
I need the inner part of this pump, any way to purchase seperate than a whole unit.
