I have a whirlpool under the counter ice maker that I just bought a recirculating pump #2313628. I found the wiring harness is backwards. In other words, when you turn the plastic plug in (the harness) the direction is has to go to plug into the machine, the black wire ends up being on the bottom. On the pump that was removed, the black wire is on the top. Is it safe to just cut the wire and put them in a new plug in harness or is the whole pump wired wrong or do you have another idea?

After cleaning, unit does not make ice. Condenser works- box is cold, water fills fine; water pump does not come on. Replaced thermostat 6 months ago by field tech. What would you recommend as solution?

Greetings, I am trying to diagnose an issue with our Kenmore Undercounter Ice Maker. The machine is constantly running, but only a few small pieces of ice are ever made (and I think that is in accelerated mode) and those pieces melt in the bottom of the machine. I have done some research and based on that, what appears to be abnormal is that the water is continually running into the reservoir (I assume this is keeping the water too warm to freeze and keeping the temperature too warm to keep the pieces frozen) and a little is continually going down the drain. I am assuming that the reservoir is supposed to fill and then the valve is supposed to close allowing the water in the reservoir to get cold enough to freeze on the cold plate and to cool the interior of the machine. Based on that, I am wondering what part needs replacing. The water seems to be coming out of pump 2313628, but since it is pumping, that may not be what is the problem. When I plug the outlet with my finger, there is a fair amount of pressure, so the pump is working. Any guidance would be helpful.

Makes sucking noise for very prolonged time and stops producing ice. I fill reservoir with water and functions well as long as I keep refilling reservoir. Seems as though problem is due to not getting water into reservoir. Is there a valve to be replaced?

Is there a simple means to check to see if the pump works? Is it a 12V AC or DC motor? If DC, can I hook it to a 12V car battery? If DC, does polarity matter, and which lead is positive on the pump?
