While looking for a water leak I found the the pump belts to be stickey, and in very bad condition. The belt was falling apart in my hands it possible this is the cause for a leak? After each washing there is a 3-5 inch wide puddle under the washer. Maytag Model is LAT9557AAE Part replacement is 12112425

The belts sound like they need to be replaced, but they cannot cause a leak. You need to run the unit with the front panel off to locate the leak. Of course you should be very cautious not to get caught up in the spinning transmission assembly, but there isn't much of a way to locate a leak without opening the unit. If the water gets in the floor with no water being visual inside the cabinet of the unit, the water pump 6-2022030 is the most likely cause of the leak.
