The dishwasher works fine with the exception of draining. There is no sound at all when it hits the drain cycle now. However it fills and washes normally. It was making a sound as if the drain motor could have been going out before it quit. Is the drain pump separate from the wash motor? Also is the motor bad, the timer or something else? Thank you!

Answer Hello Phillip, The drain pump is not sold as a separate unit. You would have to purchase the pump and motor assembly W10247394. You can test to see if the motor is getting power at the point of drain cycle. If it is getting power but not turning then you would replace pump and motor. If there is no power then you would replace the control.

Answer Hello Phillip, This can be the fault of the timer or the pump motor windings. You need to pull the tech sheet and test the motor windings. If they test good, you should check for voltage to the motor during the drain cycle.If there is no voltage, the harness or the timer has failed. The motor circulates the water when it spins in one direction and drains when it spins the other.

The motor never starts on my Whirlpool dishwasher. The washer heats up and the timer cycles through, but the motor never starts. Is this the motor or possibly the timer not functioning properly?

Answer Hello Stan. You will need to test for power coming to the motor assembly. If there is power there and the motor does not run, you will need to replace the motor assembly W10247394 on the unit.

I have a Whirlpool roll away dishwasher. It suddenly stopped draining properly. It trys to drain but the flow is weaker than normal. If I cycle the timer back to drain a couple of times it will eventually pump all the water out. I took pump and motor assmbly out and checked for blockage. Found a large popcorn kernal and some pulpy residue. Cleaned everything and re-assembled but still draining weakly. If I have to change pump, can I change pump only? Motor seems to run fine. Number on pump is 3369011 FSP

Answer Hello Arlen. No, you need to replace the assembly W10247394 if needed. First run a small pipe snake through the drain hose and make sure it is not blocked. This will cause the issue you are having as well.

Answer Hi Joe. You will need to test and see if the timer is sending power to the pump assembly when the dishwasher is in drain cycle. If so, and the pump is not pumping out, you will need to replace the pump/motor assembly. If there is no power there, you will need to replace the timer 8535372.
