Answer Janet, To remove the water filter, there is a button on the side of the housing. You will need to push this button and the filter will pop out. If when you push the button the filter does not pop out then you may need to get ahold of the filter with channel locks while pushing in on the button pull out on the filter.

Answer Hello Barbara, More than likely if the filter is dry then it did not get pushed in all the way. If the cap was sticking out and not sitting flush this would be the case. When you install the filter you should hear a rush of water going into the filter. You then want to purge the water line with about 3 gallons of water. Just after you start purging there will be break in the water flow due to air in the lines. The water when it is cold will taste different than tap water.

Answer Hello Tracey, If you look at or near the ceiling of the fresh food side of the unit, you should see the I.D. tag. This will have the model and serial number. There are several types of water filters and I would hate to have you order the wrong one. If you still cannot find it, at least let us know if the filter is a canister type (filter that goes into a plastic housing), a canister style (like an oil filter), or one of the long thin ones. This will at least get us into the ball park.
