I need to replace this receptacle and the terminals. Do I remove the 20 screws that hold the top frame to the cooktop? Does the edge frame just lift off or do I have to lift the entire cooktop up? I have a Jenn-Air C301.
Answer Hello Johnny,
The unit will have to be lifted up and set diagonally over the countertop opening. The main top will then have to be removed as will the screws in the top of the unit in order to gain access to the receptacle.
Thank you for your answer earlier. I found out that the existing wire tabs in the ceramic receptacle (model 702434) are broken. I have to replace the wires, not the ceramic part.. Wires have tabs at one end and connectors at the other ends. When cooktop unit is inserted, the plugs are connected with the tabs. Wires have different colors. Would you please tell what are the part numbers for the wire hardnesses. The part list you have on your website show several wire hardnesses (e.g 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D, 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D).
Answer Chuck, You're correct each wire in the cartridge receptacle is an individual wire, so you can order all four wires, or each colored wire as needed. The wires are different lengths due to the location of the receptacles, so, if the right bay needs the wires, you'll need to order the 7A,7B,7C.7D (long) wires, The left bay will need the 6A,6B,6C,6D (short wires)
I need to replace the left receptacle on the cooktop which is broken. Cooktop surface does not get hot. It looks like the part number is Y502434. Can you confirm? Do I need to order anything else? I assume the wiring is fine. I wish to have some instructions with pictures/diagrams showing how to disassemble the top to get to the part. Thanks.
Answer Hello Chuck! Yes, the receptacle Y702434 (Y702434) is the correct replacement used on your model S160. You will need to remove the screws along the edge of the top, along the rear edge of the top, and then lift the air grille off. Remove the screws inside the plenum area and remove the drain tub nuts. Lift the assembly and disconnect the receptacle harness. Remove screws holding receptacle and install in reverse order. Thanks!
