There is a green ground wire connected to my old defrost timer. It appears to just be connected to the frame of the old timer. There is no place to connect this on the replacement timer. Does the replacement unit not need the ground wire?

I Have Purchase a Defrost Timer from you all Part No. AP 3110896 and replaced the old Timer. Had 2 black wires and Metal cover and has a stud for a ground wire. I installed the Timer which had only one black wire, I placed it on terminal 2, and then into the Hones. Start up the Refrigerator but it is not cooling properly.
