There is a green ground wire connected to my old defrost timer. It appears to just be connected to the frame of the old timer. There is no place to connect this on the replacement timer. Does the replacement unit not need the ground wire?

We replaced the defrost timer we ordered from you and it worked great! Ice was being made quickly. Now it's doing the same thing again, like it's defrosting too long. Ice begins to melt. I turn the refrigerator to off and turn it on again and it starts to run. Is there a setting on the timer that needs to be set? Is there something else that could be wrong? We put the black wire from the timer 482493 on Terminal 1. The fridge is very cold when it runs. Also has a new evaporator motor in it. And a new solenoid. Kenmore model 106-55542400 Year 2004 Please help! We don't want to have to buy a new fridge just before the holidays

It seems like my freezer gets stuck in defrost mode.(Food starts to defrost) Is this possible? If I slam the doors when this happens it starts up and runs fine for days until it happens again. I was thinking the timer is getting stuck. Perhaps the cold thermostat is not functioning correctly? Can you please tell me the correct wiring configuation for the defrost timer for my model. Thanks for any info!
