I recently moved into a new house and the previous owner left the refrigerator. I noticed that there is mold around the water/ice dispenser area. Why would this happen? What is the best way to clean this area?

Latest Questions

I don't see a water filter in my refrigerator. I checked inside, outside at the back and behind the bottom/toe grill. Is there a way to add a filter in this refrigerator? If yes, then how/where do I connect the new filter and which filter should I use? Thanks!

I have a Whirlpool size by side. I removed the old filter and run it without filter (we have excellent water quality here). The manual says to replace the cap but it just kind of sits in there loose with no filter to screw on to. Is this normal for this model or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

We have a Kitchen Aid refrigerator we purchased new 7 years ago and we have consistently changed the water filter wit a PUR 4396841 filter. No problems. This time the first large cup of water was gray (like charcoal ?) then the water has been clear since. Is there a problem? Also the box appeared to not have been opened but there was not date stickers to apply and no instruction sheet enclosed. Should we be concerned with the water or filter?
