Our dryer all of a sudden will not switch on. Could this be the relay part #AP 2974634 it just stopped working suddenly with no warning, I checked all circuit breakers it seems to be getting juice?
Answer Hello Joe. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Also check the heater and thermal fuses and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Hope this helps.

Where is the thermal fuse on a whirlpool dryer? Thanks Ruben.
Answer Ruben, That depends on the model number, most Whirlpool "Gas" Dryers have one(1) thermal fuse, located on the burner cone beside or near the hi limit thermostat. The "Electric" Dryers have two(2)thermal fuses one is located on the blower housing, and controls the voltage to the motor, if it opens, the dryer won't start and run. Then there is a thermal cut out / fuse located on the heater element housing, which controls power to the element, if it opens, the dryer will run, but won't heat.
I open the door and the dryer stops like it should, but when I close the door the heating element comes on before I push the start button.
Answer Hello Gaylon. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the heating element may be grounded in the unit. You need to check and see if the element coils are touching metal. If so, you will need to order and replace the heater in the unit.
