Unit stopped cooling, compressor would not come on. Replaced cold control thermostat (part no 2188202), still not cooling, compressor wont come on. Replaced overload relay assembly (part no 819099), it clicked when power was turned on. I noticed it was not connected properly so I changed it. It then allowed the compressor to come on (at least it sounded like it was running) but it still will not cool. Is it possible that I damaged the part and it caused the "click", I assume not since the compressor seemed to be running after the correction. The other thing I noticed is that the compressor was pretty warm before I replaced any parts. The coils were dirty and I cleaned them. Can someone offer any help in resolving this problem? Thanks!

Does this relay need to be mounted on compressor with any particuliar orientation. By this I mean is there a up and down position for the relay with respect to the compressor or will it operate no matter how it is mounted. Also is the adhesive that came with the realy just to glue relay to compressor or is it used to make contact for the temp of the compressor. I have installed relay and overload but haven't glued it to compressor yet. Thanks, Mike

Latest Questions

Does 819099 replace 'both' of these parts 549718 and 989661? Is this without any risk of damage or fire? Or does it just replace 549718? If so, then is there a compatible part to replace 989661?

When I enter this model number (EB19AKXL - as stated refrigerator door panel) I get to your Whirlpool Refrigerator EB19AKXLWR0 Repair Parts page. Then I enter Search within this Model -> 'Relay" and I get Relay and Overload Assembly by Whirlpool Part Number AP3119970 MFG Part Number 819099, but when I click on the item there is an Appliance Compatibility Tool (bottom right of page) and if I enter my model number it says its incompatible? Is this the correct part number to buy for my refrigerator? Thanks!

I need to order replacements for my relay and overload, but couldn't find a match for the model number on my freezer. I was wondering which of these several combination kits would work for me? What are the differences?
