Out Maytag DW due to infrequent use caused the ring seal (what appears to be part #AP4111379) to dry rot. We will be selling this house soon & the DW works great previously. Is this repair something a novice can accomplish, as repair places want a small fortune to come out without even counting the repair or part. I read a previous question & it seems it requires 2? You can see the ring is just in shreds @ the base.
The ring seal will go under where the spray arm is located and can be easily installed into the unit. If you are referring to the ring that is around the pump of the unit, this can also be replaced. The part number for the tub seal is 99001797 and you would need to disconnect all the components at the bottom of the tub and push up on the pump assembly to get the part out. Once out install the new ring and put pump back into place.
Where does the Ring Seal (Part Number: AP4111379) attach too. Do I need more than 1
Answer Jack, the Ring seal(there are usually two(2) go in the upper area of the rinse arm assembly 99002043 . The openings should be opposite of each other, The rings act as a rotating water seal between the rinse arm and the pump cover. Thanks and Good Luck.
