Answer Percy, The screws are standard "ASE" screws, they turn counterclockwise to losen and clockwise to tighten. However, there are "locknuts" on the bottom of the base assembly, that need to be held tight, with a wrench, while you turn the screw(s). Thanks and Good Luck
