This is an old gas oven, and from what I gather, until now, had never been cleaned b4. I used Easy-Off, but what worries me, is that there is a section in the back part of the oven that looks like sponge that has partially dissolved apart. Is it still okay to use the oven, or do I need to replace this sponge type object which is in the very back? In addition, the oven works great, but know that I cleaned it, I'm nervous about turning it on, as I may have down something since it is gas....and I wasn't sure were to turn the gas off at! HELP?????

Hi, We have a condo and we have stove MER5550AAW. The handle is loose and when we took it apart, we found that the part 74003653 has a broken plastic. I will order this piece, but I am trying to find the screws that should be used there. Those are screws that hold this piece and handle together.

Does this screw attach the oven ignitor to the oven burner assembly? The original screw removed was a black "hex head" that threaded into the original oven burner assembly bracket.
