The transmission leaked into the tub of the washing machine. Do y0u think a new transmission O-ring and new tub seal will resolve the leak? I am planning on draining the transmission since it more than likely contaminated with water. What type of oil is required to be reinstalled into the transmission.

Answer John, Are you sure the transmission is leaking into the tub ? it could be, and usually is a fabric softner build up, or deposits that accumulate on the tub and under the agitator, because of cold washes and deetergent usage. Hate to see you go through a lot of expense and work for an unneeded repair. Here's a quick, easy check. Remove the agitator, check for a "Grease" ring around the center bottom of the agitator, no grease, the transmission is not leaking, if there is a grease ring, run a finger through the ring, rub the residue between your fingers and smell it. if there is a "camphor" odor, the transmission is leaking, a sweet or body odor type smell, will indicate a build up. A new "O" ring and seal kit is only a temporary repair, you would need a complete transmission, but will keep you going for a short while. The lubricant needed for the transmission is 6-0560800 if you need it. Good Luck and Thanks
My washer is leaking during the fill and rinse stage through the bottom of the tube, down the transmission shaft. Do I have a bad seal, and if so what parts are required to fix this problem?

Answer Hello Jim. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you will need to replace the tub bearing kit 6-2040130 and the mounting stem kit 6-2095720. The tub seal is bad on the unit. Hope this helps.
