I took the front of my Amana washer and it appears that water is leaking from the top of the tub and running down the sides only during the spin cycle. What part do I need?
Answer Hello Lynn,
The unit is spinning too fast near the beginning of the spin cycle. The tub should take 90 seconds to reach full spin speed to prevent centrifugal force from slinging the water over the tub. This will be directly related to the slip of the belt, (the unit is designed for the belt to slip so much at the beginning of the spin cycle to prevent this). About the only thing that will cause this complaint would be an obstruction in the drain causing the water to drain from the unit too slowly. I would closely examine the drain pump and the drain hoses. Also, the opening in the bottom of the outer tub where the water leaves the outer tub. This can be checked by removing the tub-to-pump hose and observing inside the hole into the tub.
when the washer is spinning water comes out above the transmission between transmission and tub.i took the aggratet and did not see anything
Answer Randy, Based on your description, you have a leaking tub seal/tub bearing assembly 12001598 and a spanner wrench. to dismantle the washer tubs. It's an involved, but doable repair. Thanks and Good Luck
